Outer Space Arkanoid carries the old Arkanoid, or Breakout, formula into space. A ball ricochets around the screen, a paddle at the bottom sends it back up, and every brick it touches breaks. Destroy them all and the level is done. It is part of our Arkanoid category.
Brick breakers are among the oldest arcade ideas and still some of the most satisfying. Outer Space Arkanoid is an HTML5 game and is free, and the paddle follows either the mouse or a finger.
Keeping the ball alive
Slide the paddle under the ball so it bounces back toward the bricks. Each hit knocks a brick out. Let the ball slip past the paddle and it is lost. On a computer the paddle follows the mouse, and on mobile devices it follows your finger. The level ends when the last brick is gone.
Brick breaker tricks
- Catch the ball near the ends of the paddle to send it off at a sharper slant.
- Opening a hole to the top lets the ball bounce around behind the bricks for a while.
- Watch the ball rather than the bricks, the bricks are not going anywhere.
