Hex Zen is a shape puzzle built on hexagons. Every board is an unfinished hex figure, and you have to work out which pieces belong in it and fit them in until nothing is missing.
It is the kind of puzzle where looking at the gaps tells you more than looking at the pieces. The mouse and a fingertip on a phone both work for moving shapes around. More puzzles like it are in Matching Game.
Filling the hexagons
Look at the empty spaces in the hex figure and pick the shape piece that belongs in each one. Drop the pieces into place until the puzzle is complete. In shape fitting puzzles the awkward gaps usually have only one piece that fits, so solve those first.
Hex puzzle tips
- Start with the most unusual gap, it rules out many pieces at once.
- Count the hex cells in a gap and compare it with the pieces you have.
- Leave the simplest pieces for last, they fit in more places.
